About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Product Operations team at Imperial College London. As the Head of Product Operations, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient functioning of our product teams and driving digital transformation across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reporting and Analysis: Develop and lead the process for executive reporting, aligning product line roadmaps with Imperial's Digital Strategy and Plan. Share product management best practices with the wider ICT department and external stakeholders.
  • Product Line Guidance: Provide guidance to product lines on product best practice and tooling, including the use of road mapping and product delivery tools and product dashboards to guide product delivery performance. Develop and implement efficient business processes to streamline product development.
  • User Research and Experience: Enable, through tooling, process, and best practice, and by working closely with support and delivery teams, a general improvement of customer experience. Support product teams to manage user research and gain insights from the activity to input to product roadmaps.
  • Data and Product Analytics: Analyze data to assess product performance against expected levels – ensuring products are adding value and doing what's needed. Turning this data into actionable insights for the Product teams.
  • Product-Based Budgeting: Introduce product-based budgeting and ensuring spend is value for money and optimal with respect to Opex and Capex and directed to the right areas of the product portfolio.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify inefficiencies and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
  • FinOps: Work with our FinOps lead on developing a FinOps process that brings together product, finance, and our cloud team to ensure ICT and wider faculties are realising value from cloud services and optimise cloud spending to align with business goals and enhance our bottom line.
  • Resource Management Support: Facilitate the best use of resources across the portfolio – ensuring the right skills are in the right places.
  • Leadership: Provide leadership of the Product Operations team, coaching and managing team members to realise their potential. Viewed as a thought leader within the Product Operations space.
  • Risk Management: Enable and monitor the product development process with tooling and processes to address any issues or risks affecting timelines or quality.
  • Relationship Management: Engage with key stakeholders and senior partners across Imperial and with external partners to ensure our processes, reporting, etc. are aligned with the wider university.
  • Quality Assurance: Improve quality assurance processes for new product features. Ensure that features meet quality standards before release.
