We've been providing NHS eye care in the East of England since 2007 and will be expanding this year across the UK. We offer a range of services including cataract surgery, YAG laser treatment, glaucoma treatment, oculoplastics, and general ophthalmology.
Our main objectives are to reduce waiting times for patients with eye conditions, deliver exceptional care without hospital stays, have a positive impact on patients' lives, provide care closer to home, reduce overall waiting times in the health economy, create additional capacity in secondary care, and use new technologies to maintain the highest levels of care at the cutting edge of ophthalmology.
Job DescriptionAs a Healthcare Assistant (HCA), you'll work within our ophthalmic theatres team, conducting pre-operative testing, assisting during consent appointments and treatments, and coordinating patient flow. You'll also assist surgeons during procedures and update medical records.
- Pre-operative testing: conduct tests prior to examination and treatment, assist during consent appointments, and provide information to patients.
- Patient discharging: instruct patients on eye care post-procedure, update medical records, and make follow-up appointments.
- Coordinating: control patient flow, manage queries, and minimize waiting times.
- Assisting surgeons: act as scrub assistant, take notes, instill eye drops, and assist during surgeries.
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- Previous experience in an optical or healthcare environment.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- The ability to absorb and convey technical information.
- Adaptability and a flexible approach to work.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
