About the Role

The UK Fragrance Laboratory Manager is a critical position that supports the UK Fragrance team in remaining competitive and delivering winning fragrances in a responsive manner.

The major objectives of this role are:

  • to produce samples for customer briefs
  • to produce samples for customers
  • to support with technical issues
  • to support with panel testing
  • to support with evaluation sessions
  • to support with market sample and fragrance oil inventories

Main Responsibilities

The UK Fragrance Laboratory Manager will be responsible for:

  • maintaining all lab resources in good working order and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality procedures
  • managing all laboratory equipment
  • managing customer base inventories, internal bases, and packaging inventories
  • maintaining the fragrance oil library in good working order
  • waste disposal

Fragrance Application Support

The UK Fragrance Laboratory Manager will support proactive and client-initiated fragrance development projects for Home & Beauty Care categories by applying fragrances in various un-fragranced bases.

They will work closely with the Evaluation Manager and the Sales team to provide technical support, solve problems in the application of fragrance to product, and improve existing products.

The UK Fragrance Laboratory Manager will develop strong, collaborative working relationships across the Fragrance Application Teams in the various Symrise regional creative centres.

Fragrance Evaluation Support

The UK Fragrance Laboratory Manager will be responsible for:

  • preparing laundry assessments
  • preparing candle assessments
  • leading internal panel tests
  • working closely with Evaluation on maintaining the Fine Fragrance and Market Product Libraries
  • co-ordinating market sample requests from the UK team and other Symrise sites
  • organising sample despatch to other Symrise sites

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • a minimum of 3-years of experience within the cosmetic industry
  • a BSc (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacy, Food Science, or Chemical Engineering
  • fluency in English

Key Competencies

The UK Fragrance Laboratory Manager will possess:
