Overview

About the Role

As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting young learners and fostering a nurturing environment. Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons aligned with the EYFS framework.
  • Assisting in planning and implementing activities that stimulate children's learning and development.
  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to children with SEN, promoting an inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Observing, assessing, and documenting children's progress and development, contributing to their educational pathways.
  • Helping manage classroom behavior, ensuring a positive, safe, and productive environment.
  • Collaborating with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals to provide tailored support.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • Experience working in an EYFS setting, with a strong understanding of the curriculum and learning strategies.
  • Proven SEN experience, with the ability to adapt teaching methods and provide specialized support.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant certificate, or similar educational background.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling strong relationships with children, colleagues, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to effectively work with young learners.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • Creativity and flexibility to meet the dynamic needs of an EYFS classroom.
