Job Overview

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Occupational Therapist Specialist to join their team. This part-time Band 7 role offers an exciting opportunity to provide specialist rehabilitation input to inpatient and outpatient services, as well as coordinate and write rehabilitation prescriptions for patients across the major trauma centre.

This position requires a candidate with experience of delivering specialist rehabilitation for patients with complex musculoskeletal and neurological injuries. The successful applicant will work as part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology, dietetics, speech and language therapy, social work, and consultant in rehabilitation medicine.

The post involves supervising junior staff, delivering in-service training, participating in clinical audit, and service development. A late shift, weekend, and bank holiday commitment is also required.

Main Responsibilities

  • To provide high-quality occupational therapy care to non-complex, complex, and highly complex patients within specialty, demonstrating high-level problem-solving, reasoning skills, and independence of judgement.
  • The Advanced OT will be a highly specialist practitioner and the clinical lead for the Occupational Therapy Service within specialty, providing highly specialist knowledge within the Trust and externally to therapists and other healthcare professionals from secondary and primary care across the region.

The salary for this role is estimated at £54,000-£64,000 per annum, depending on experience. The location is within the North East region of England.
