Job Description

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to work at an Alternative Provision. Whether you are an experienced Behaviour Support Assistant or are just starting out in your career, we would like to hear from you.

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will provide 1:1 support for young students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. You will work alongside the teaching staff to support pupil behaviour, learning and personal development. Your role will be to build a trusting relationship and rapport with the student to help re-engage them with their learning in a safe and caring environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for young students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Work alongside teaching staff to support pupil behaviour, learning and personal development.
  • Build trusting relationships and rapport with students.
  • Help students to replace feelings of failure and frustration with a sense of belonging and success.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in a school or residential setting.
  • Knowledge of complex needs, associated learning difficulties and challenging behaviours.
  • Knowledge and understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff members and outside agencies.
  • Enhanced Child Only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
