Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team at GSL Education.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide 1:1 support for young students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, promoting independent learning and encouraging appropriate social skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support to students with complex needs, associated learning difficulties, and challenging behaviours.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support pupil behaviour, learning, and personal development.
  • Build trusting relationships with students to help re-engage them with their learning in a safe and caring environment.
  • Support the delivery of in-class activities, promoting independent learning and encouraging social skills.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in a school or residential setting.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies, such as Team Teach, NAPPI, or MAPPA.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff members and outside agencies, such as counsellors and mental health professionals.
  • Enhanced Child Only DBS registered to the update service or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
