Job Summary

Morecambe Bay Primary Care Collaborative (MBPCC) is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Clinical Pharmacist to lead a multi-PCN pharmacist professional support and advice service. The successful candidate will provide expert clinical strategic leadership to PCN ARRS Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians within the Morecambe Bay area.

Main Duties
  • Provide strategic leadership for clinical support and advice for PCNs, MBPCC, PCN Clinical Pharmacists, and Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Support newly appointed PCN Clinical Pharmacists with PCN Pharmacy-related input into Clinical Pharmacy inductions.
  • Deliver introductions to Primary Care targets such as QoF, PCN DES, and ICB Quality Contracts.
  • Facilitate medication optimisation knowledge and activity, including guidance and formulary information, and engagement in ICB programmes of work.
  • Provide strategic clinical leadership on therapeutics, medicines optimisation, and quality improvement.
  • Cascade information gained from local and national bodies.
  • Advise on achieving Primary Care targets, including EMIS SNOMED codes.
  • Support medicines management expertise and sharing best practice.
About Us

Morecambe Bay Primary Care Collaborative is a GP Federation in the beautiful Bay area, working with 30 GP practices and 8 PCNs across North Lancashire and South Cumbria. We are a small, friendly team looking for a like-minded individual to work with us.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support to PCNs, including attending interviews for Clinical Pharmacists or Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Work closely with PCNs to promote and embed the role of PCN Clinical Pharmacist.
  • Lead on the development of protocols with key stakeholders to support prescribing initiatives.
  • Attend PCN meetings and work to find solutions to pharmacy or medicines-related problems.
  • Provide clinical leadership for PCNs' strategic plans, working with members to improve the quality and effectiveness of delivery of the PCN DES.
Requirements
  • Hold a full UK driving license and be able to travel to multiple sites across Morecambe Bay as needed.
  • 5 years' experience of working in a Clinical Pharmacy role and a minimum of 2 years of leadership and management experience in primary care.
  • Competent user of EMIS Web.
  • Experience of managing a team.
  • Evidence of high-quality prescribing practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to use MS software: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and email.
Qualifications
  • Master of Pharmacy (or equivalent).
  • Independent prescriber.
  • Completion of CPPE pathway or evidence of full pathway exemption from CPPE.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Great leadership skills.
  • Good negotiation, influencing, and motivational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continual improvement of services and processes.
  • Conversant with quality improvement tools and techniques.
  • Good understanding of the NHS Long Term Plan and ability to implement relevant guidance on Medicine Optimisation.
  • Able to work independently or within a team.
  • Demonstrates accountability for delivering professional expertise and direct service provision.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Demonstrate personal accountability, emotional resilience, and works well under pressure.
  • Ability to organise, plan, and prioritise on own initiative, including when under pressure and meeting deadlines.
