About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our team in the Northern Region. As part of our Engineering function, you will be responsible for managing both direct and subcontracted design teams involved in our growing portfolio of work on a Water Framework.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage design delivery and technical design solutions for our programme of work, ensuring compliance with project requirements, standards, and specifications.
  2. Adhere to CDM regulations as Design Manager, ensuring appropriate CDM appointments are in place.
  3. Promote safety, environmental best practice, and sustainability through design.
  4. Produce design plans and briefs, manage contracts with external design consultants, and ensure duties are discharged under the contract.
  5. Support Estimators and Project Managers to produce and manage design and budget schedules.

  8. Support supply chain selection for specialists' input on the design.

Person Specification
  1. Minimum 10 years of design and management experience
  2. Experience in the design management of water and wastewater infrastructure, including pipelines, hydraulics, and MEICA
  3. Working knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and common data environments
  4. Degree/HNC qualified, or equivalent, in Civil Engineering
  5. Member of a recognized engineering professional body
  6. Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with both clients and staff
  7. Self-driven and results-oriented with a positive outlook
  8. People management, time management, project design management
  9. Temporary Works: Understanding of what encompasses Temporary Works and the supporting engineering, understanding of the types of temporary works designs available and what responsibilities the associated roles (designer/coordinator/contractor) have and engagement of internal and external temporary works designers.
