About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Trading Standards Enforcement Officer. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring businesses comply with regulatory requirements and protecting consumers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake inspections of premises to identify non-compliant businesses
  • Seize illicit products, such as tobacco and vapes, and organize test purchase operations for age-restricted products
  • Conduct criminal investigations and consider alternative sanctions
  • Provide businesses with advice on legal responsibilities to encourage compliance
  • Raise the service's profile on social media and contribute to other projects as needed

About You

  • Education to NVQ level 4 or equivalent, or sufficient work experience
  • Experience in the regulatory compliance or law enforcement sector
  • Experience of providing advice in an enforcement role
  • Understanding of the legal system and protocols for conducting investigations lawfully and ethically
  • Experience of analyzing data or interpreting information and research
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to tailor your approach depending on the recipient
  • Enthusiasm and ability to learn new skills and work in new areas of law
  • Highly motivated with transferable skills to adapt to a trading standards enforcement role
  • Flexible approach to work, including working outside of office hours when necessary
  • A full driving licence is essential
