Job Summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced midwife to join our team as an Operational Coordinator. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, leading the midwifery team and contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Main Duties of the Job

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the midwifery team, providing guidance and support to staff, and ensuring the effective redeployment of staff to meet the needs of women and babies. This will involve working closely with the midwifery leadership team and other stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to improve patient care and outcomes.

Person Specification

  • Essential
  • Registered midwife on the relevant part of the NMC Register
  • Diploma or degree in midwifery
  • Leadership experience/training
  • Management experience/training
  • Desirable
  • Masters or equivalent education
  • Professional Midwifery Advocate
  • Physical examination of the newborn assessor

Experience

  • Essential
  • Good understanding and knowledge of national and local NHS and midwifery agenda
  • Proven skills and knowledge in all areas of midwifery clinical practice
  • Experience of introducing change to a clinical environment
  • Evidence of a refined skillset in having difficult conversations
  • Evidence of ability to effectively manage conflict
