Job Title: Senior Midwifery Practitioner

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Midwifery Practitioner to join our team. As a key member of our midwifery leadership team, you will play a vital role in leading and managing our midwifery services, ensuring that we provide high-quality care to our patients.

About the Role

This is a 12-month, part-time, fixed-term opportunity for night shifts only. As a Senior Midwifery Practitioner, you will be responsible for leading and managing our midwifery team, ensuring that we provide safe and responsive care to women and babies. You will work closely with our midwifery leadership team to develop and implement strategies to improve our services, and you will be responsible for managing and developing our midwifery staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage our midwifery team, ensuring that we provide high-quality care to our patients.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve our midwifery services, working closely with our midwifery leadership team.
  • Manage and develop our midwifery staff, providing guidance and support to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge they need to provide excellent care.
  • Work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure that we provide comprehensive and coordinated care to our patients.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of our trust's strategic plans, ensuring that our midwifery services are aligned with our overall goals and objectives.
Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Midwifery Practitioner who has a strong track record of leadership and management. You will have a good understanding of national and local NHS and midwifery agendas, and you will be able to demonstrate your ability to lead and manage a team, develop and implement strategies, and manage and develop staff.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and you will be able to work effectively with our multidisciplinary team to ensure that we provide comprehensive and coordinated care to our patients. You will also have a good understanding of clinical governance and quality improvement, and you will be able to contribute to the development and implementation of our trust's strategic plans.
