About the Role

The Resource Geology Coordinator is a critical position within ArcelorMittal, responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance in the development and implementation of best geology and resource practices across all mining operations.

Main Responsibilities
  • Health and Safety Leadership: Encourage and foster a culture of safety as the top priority, leading by example and promoting a high-performance culture.
  • Resource Management: Contribute to the development and deployment of exploration and resource definition standards, ensuring effective resource generation and management.
  • Technical Assurance: Undertake compliance and technical assurance reviews, ensuring that gap analysis and maturity assessments are conducted, and action plans are developed and implemented.
  • Geological Support: Assist and guide business units in mine geology procedures, exploration practice, geological mapping, and the interpretation of geological, geochemical, and geophysical data.
  • Strategy Development: Support the development of effective strategies to achieve growth in value of mining assets, providing guidance to exploration and mine geology teams.
  • Operational Support: Assist with budgets, selection of companies, labs, and consultants, to create significant value to ArcelorMittal.
  • Standardization: Align minimum and best practice standards across the mining group, ensuring consistency and alignment of geology systems, processes, and activities.
  • GIS Database Management: Support the creation of a GIS database at each site and at a group level for mineral exploration.
  • 3D Modeling: Manage, interpret, and review 3D geological and resource models.
  • Geo-Metallurgical Models: Provide guidance on the implementation of geo-metallurgical models at business units.
  • Capital Expenditure: Assist with capital expenditure submissions as required.
  • Training and Development: Support geoscientists across the mining business during mineral resource modeling, including support in mining and geology software solutions.
  • Mergers and Acquisitions: Support Mergers and Acquisitions in finding the right strategic projects and resources to drive the business forward.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or Geoscience as a minimum, a Master's in Geoscience preferable.
  • Experience: Mining and operational geology, resource evaluation, and geological mapping experience, with technical involvement in resource modeling estimation, and reporting.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and management skills, with a strong safety culture and commitment to zero harm culture, proficient use of current mining and geology specialized computerized solutions and IT innovations, data management in secure data repositories, and a firm understanding of data management protocols.
