Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Phlebotomy Specialist to join our community phlebotomy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients in a safe and efficient manner, working closely with our healthcare teams to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Main Responsibilities

  • Collect blood samples from patients in a variety of settings, including clinics and patients' homes
  • Work closely with healthcare teams to ensure accurate and timely sample collection
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, adhering to strict confidentiality and data protection guidelines
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices and new technologies
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Accredited qualification in venepuncture
  • Basic first aid qualification
  • Good communication and IT skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to use a car on a daily basis
  • Broad experience in taking blood samples
  • Experience of training junior members of staff in clinical and administrative procedures
  • Experience of maintaining stock of clinical supplies and other basic administrative duties
  • Familiarity with blood collection equipment and ability to take corrective action in case of an untoward event

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Extensive experience in providing a domiciliary service
  • Some experience with pediatric patients
