Phlebotomy Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Phlebotomist to join our community phlebotomy team at NELFT North East London Foundation Trust. As a Phlebotomy Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth collection of blood samples from patients, enabling our healthcare professionals to provide accurate diagnoses and effective treatments.
Key Responsibilities- Collect blood samples from patients in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to strict protocols and guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of blood sample collections, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date with the latest phlebotomy techniques and best practices.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and service delivery.
- NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy.
- Accredited qualification in venepuncture.
- Basic first aid qualification.
- Good communication and IT skills.
- A driver's license and the ability to use a car on a daily basis, with business insurance that includes the transportation of bloods/specimens.
- Broad experience in taking bloods.
- Experience of training junior members of staff in clinical and administrative procedures.
- Experience of responsibility for maintaining stock of clinical supplies and other basic administrative duties, including arranging appointments.
- Familiarity and conversance with blood collection equipment in terms of their use and function.
- Ability to understand and comply with corrective action in case of an untoward event.
- Extensive experience in providing a domiciliary service.
- Some experience with pediatric patients.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
