Job Description:

This is a challenging opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety Professional to join our client in Wells, Somerset. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in health and safety, with experience in the manufacturing industry. A NEBOSH or IOSH certificate is essential, and GMP ISO 22716 – Good Manufacturing Practice would be highly desirable.

The salary for this position is approximately £45,000 per annum, depending on experience. Benefits include a competitive basic salary, company pension, cycle to work scheme, free parking on site, life insurance, and private medical insurance.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  1. Ensuring all health and safety regulations are enforced and adhered to at all times;
  2. Keeping up to date with any health and safety law changes and communicating relevant updates to senior management;
  3. Developing, implementing, and maintaining all health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines for the company;
  4. Ensuring that staff are trained and up to date with health and safety policies and procedures as required;
  5. Alerting senior management to any short-term or long-term activities or budgets for this area;
  6. Performing on-site risk assessments, implementing controls, and establishing safe work systems;
  7. Carrying out on-site audits and inspection surveys in line with legislation and implementing agreed actions where appropriate;
  8. Completing COSHH RA for all chemicals handled on site, and advising on how to deal with the handling and disposal of hazardous substances;
  9. Providing guidance on safety equipment and the safe installation of new machinery;
  10. Completing health and safety inductions for all new employees, and continual refresher training for existing staff;
