Commercial Category Manager

Role Overview
At WHSmith, we're committed to creating an environment where our people can thrive and deliver exceptional results. As a Commercial Category Manager, you'll play a key role in driving the commercial performance of your category across all our formats.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and track against key commercial KPIs, including sales and profitability
- Curate the optimal assortment for our customers, aligning with commercial targets
- Develop a continuous pipeline of value-creating initiatives to drive sales and profitability
- Lead category and trade planning, ensuring alignment with the overarching business plan
- Negotiate with and manage the supplier base, including a clear supplier strategy and ongoing term maintenance
- Define pricing and promotional strategies for the category
- Source and develop products and suppliers in line with strategy
- Deliver projects and trials within your area, engaging cross-functionally
- Contribute to the annual budget-building process
Requirements
- Previous buying/commercial experience is essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
- Strong numeracy skills and data analysis ability
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
- Collaborative team player
