Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our Mental Health Intensive Support Team (MhIST) as a Lead Occupational Therapist. This is a clinical leadership role that requires expertise in occupational therapy and the ability to provide leadership and support to a team of Occupational Therapists.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and support to the Occupational Therapists across the service, promoting the role of occupational therapy within the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and developing the occupational therapy pathway within the service. They will also provide expert clinical knowledge to support occupational therapy assessment, intervention, and evaluation across the service footprint.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and support to Occupational Therapists across the service
  • Develop and implement occupational therapy pathways and protocols
  • Provide expert clinical knowledge to support occupational therapy assessment, intervention, and evaluation
  • Collaborate with the MDT to promote the role of occupational therapy and develop integrated care pathways
  • Supervise and support junior staff and students
  • Contribute to the development of the service's occupational therapy strategy and business plan
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council
  • Accreditation as a Practice Placement Educator
  • Significant postgraduate training and evidence of continued professional development
  • Forensic risk assessment training (HCR20, RSVP) or be willing to gain within 12 months of appointment
