About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our Product and Standards team as an Accreditation Assessor in a permanent, full-time capacity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess digital skills and IT training programmes against the BCS Tech 10 and Dev 10 standards, using occupational expertise to evaluate the relevance of evidence supplied.
  • Conduct feedback and further assessment interviews with training providers and employer organisations, applying professional judgement and the grading criteria to determine the grade awarded.
  • Provide constructive written feedback on assessment and grade, in line with BCS Tech 10 and Dev 10 assessment criteria.
Assessment Quality and Standards
  • Review Training Provider/Employer's pre-requisite evidence in a timely manner, preparing for initial feedback interviews.
  • Conduct interviews with organisations to discuss the content of pre-requisite evidence and seek clarity or understanding where necessary.
  • Use a methodical, logical, impartial, and unbiased approach when conducting assessments to identify a fair outcome.
  • Make clear recommendations with written reasoning on grading decisions.
  • Submit assessments for moderation by the Regulation and Standards Manager.
  • Provide written feedback for the training provider/employer in line with the BCS process.
  • Proactively contribute to L&D assessment, quality, and standardisation meetings.
  • Support the on-boarding of additional assessors.
  • Follow BCS process for recording standardisation and other quality decisions.
  • Act as an internal L&D Accreditation subject matter expert to support Tech 10 and Dev 10 Standards development.
  • Understand the relevance and requirements of RITTech and other BCS professional registrations to support additional mapping of programmes where relevant.
Communication, Management, and Working with BCS
  • Maintain prompt and relevant communications with accreditation applicants, in line with all agreed service levels.
  • Develop strong and effective working relationships across the business and provide a high quality of service to all stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks to the quality, cost, or timeliness of deliverables and their components, and notify the relevant internal team.
  • Follow all applicable processes, policies, and regulatory requirements, seeking clarification where necessary.
  • Provide resolutions for problems, applying a high degree of diplomacy when appropriate.
  • Represent BCS in a professional manner in all dealings with external contacts.
  • Be fully responsible for maintaining complete security and confidentiality of information and material obtained during these activities.
  • Notify BCS of any potential conflict of interest that may arise during their role, either in relation to BCS or specific applicants.
Maintaining Professional Relevance
  • Keep up to date with BCS internal developments, updates, or changes, and attend any relevant meetings as required.
  • Work with the accreditation development team and advise as relevant to ensure Tech 10 and Dev 10 products are consistent and developed in line with industry requirements, apprenticeship standards, and assessment plans.
  • Flexibility is required of all job holders to adjust responsibilities as required from time to time by their Line Manager/Divisional Director.
