We are seeking a compassionate and patient individual to join our team as an SEN Teaching Assistant in the Canterbury area. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of secondary-aged students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.

Role Overview

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in specialised support units, providing one-to-one assistance to students and guiding their academic and emotional development. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and parents to foster student growth and support their progress.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver Personalised Support: Provide tailored guidance and support to students with diverse educational and emotional needs.
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs): Assist in implementing IEPs and Personalised Education Plans (PEPs) to meet each student's unique requirements.
  • Manage Behaviour Effectively: Utilise pupil-centric approaches to manage behaviour, adhering to school policies and each student's PEP/IEP.
  • Motivate and Encourage: Use positive behaviour management techniques to motivate and encourage students, supporting their progress and growth.
Requirements
  • Own or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS Disclosure for child workforce on the Update Service.
  • Provide a complete CV covering the last 10 years of employment history, where possible.
  • Hold a legal right to work in the UK.
  • Driving is beneficial for this role; public transport users should be able to travel one hour each way.
