We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Teaching Assistant to support students facing social and emotional challenges in our Canterbury school.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an empathetic individual to make a real difference in students' lives by applying their skills and experience working with children with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to create a positive, nurturing environment that promotes students' emotional well-being, resilience, and academic engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students individually and in small groups, adapting learning activities to meet unique social and emotional needs.
  • Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies and support students in developing positive coping skills.
  • Promote a calm and safe classroom environment that encourages trust and mutual respect.
  • Monitor and record student progress, sharing insights with the teaching team and parents as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create consistent support strategies and interventions.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children in education and be able to adapt to the changing needs of students. The ability to drive is desired but not essential.
