We are recruiting for a PMLD Assistant Teacher to join our dedicated team at Academics Ltd in Kempston. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), fostering their development, and helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing, inclusive environment.

About the Role

**Salary:** £460 - £500 per week

**Location:** Kempston

**Contract Type:** Full-Time, Permanent

Responsibilities
  1. Support students with PMLD in a one-to-one and small group setting, providing personalized support to meet their individual needs.
  2. Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement IEPs, ensuring students receive the best possible education.
  3. Assist students with physical needs, including personal care, mobility, and feeding, while maintaining their dignity and safety.
  4. Help create a positive, supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement and growth.
  5. Work closely with the SEN team to monitor progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed.
  6. Use specialist equipment and resources to facilitate engaging and accessible learning activities.
  7. Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure holistic student development.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with PMLD in an educational setting.
  • A patient, empathetic, and compassionate approach to working with students with complex needs.
  • Familiarity with Makaton, PECS, or other communication methods.
  • Knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice and safeguarding policies.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning, SEN diploma, or equivalent).
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
