About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team at King's College London, specifically within the Department of Psychological Medicine, IoPPN (Denmark Hill campus), London. This exciting opportunity is part of a UKRI funded population health improvement initiative (Population Health Improvement UK - PHIUK).

Job Description

This full-time position will involve developing a programme of work examining upstream social determinants on mental health, focusing on the consequences of employment and welfare policies and reforms on mental health outcomes. You will work across linked datasets, including the Department for Work and Pensions, mental health records, and cohorts.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in quantitative methods and mental health research, with experience working with large-scale longitudinal data and proficiency in statistical analyses using relevant packages such as Stata, R, or MPLUS. Excellent project management, time management, and communication skills are essential.

You will collaborate closely with the Co-Director of the consortium, Prof Das-Munshi, and Dr Sharon Stevelink, and work with the 'Economic Wellbeing Programme' convened by Thrive-LDN, as well as people with lived experience. Experience with quasi-experimental methodologies, cohort data, and data linkages would be an advantage.

Requirements
  • PhD in a relevant discipline (statistics, epidemiology, health economics, etc.)
  • Evidence of previous research in mental health
  • Experience working with large-scale, longitudinal data
  • Proficiency in statistical analyses using relevant packages
  • Excellent project management and communication skills

A track record of publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, experience working across policy/public health/voluntary sectors, and supervising researchers or students are desirable criteria.
