About the Role

Network Rail in Scotland is seeking a Head of Strategic Communications to lead a team of senior communications professionals. The successful candidate will work closely with the strategy and infrastructure delivery teams to showcase the importance of rail to the Scottish economy, passengers, customers, and colleagues.

This role will involve developing and implementing comprehensive communications strategies, managing the implementation of publications, and leading the production and promotion of key publications. The Head of Strategic Communications will also provide input to the development and updating of Network Rail's core corporate narrative.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in corporate communications at a management level, with a proven track record of developing and delivering integrated communications strategies. They will also have experience of managing teams in a complex communications environment and achieving targets/results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Regions Calendar and Communications grid for Network Rail in Scotland.
  • Propose and advise on the development of external communication materials for Senior Executives.
  • Lead on the development and coordination of core communications content.
  • Manage the implementation of the publications strategy.
  • Lead the production and promotion of key publications.
  • Provide input to the development and updating of Network Rail's core corporate narrative.
