About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Payroll Team Leader to join our team at MHR. As a key member of our payroll operations team, you will be responsible for providing a professional and responsive payroll service to our customers, both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Supervise and lead the payroll team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality payroll services.
    • Delegate tasks effectively to ensure all payroll processes are completed accurately and on time.
  • Payroll Operations
    • Ensure all BACS transmissions are completed in accordance with the payroll schedule and procedure.
    • Support the Payroll Manager with activities and resource planning.
    • Responsible for ensuring the provision of data to external providers, including third parties, issuing authorities, and HMRC.
  • Quality and Compliance
    • Assist with balancing and reconciliation of payrolls and act as a final sign-off before issuing to the customer.
    • Monitor the daily schedule to ensure all tasks are completed and updated accordingly.
  • Customer Service
    • Support Analysts with complex queries and manual calculations.
    • Act as an escalation point for customers.
  • Process Improvement
    • Evaluate current payroll processes and identify areas for improvement, feeding into the overall automation and efficiency program.
    • Support with the implementation of new procedures, processes, and systems to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate and work effectively across the department and MHR.
    • Monitor team resourcing to ensure Service Levels are met.
