Job Overview

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our expanding team in Amsterdam. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the mechanical delivery aspects of our major project.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design Review: Conduct comprehensive mechanical design reviews to identify gaps, deviations, or contradictions in specifications and IFC drawings.
  • RFI Generation: Generate detailed RFI's to resolve design ambiguities or potential issues.
  • Equipment Sizing: Validate equipment sizing (e.g., ductwork, pipework) and provide recommendations when necessary.
  • Submittal Approvals: Oversee the submittal approvals process, track procurement and delivery of mechanical equipment, and complete verification once delivered.
  • System Walk-Downs: Perform system walk-downs to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and management systems.
  • Discipline Coordination: Coordinate mechanical services with other disciplines and the project BIM team.
  • Technical Advice: Provide technical advice and guidance to sub-contracted staff throughout the project.
  • Subcontractor Management: Ensure sub-contractor compliance with site and project requirements, including health & safety standards.
  • Method Statements: Prepare method statements and risk assessments for construction activities.
  • Installation Sequencing: Work with the project team to sequence the installation of mechanical systems efficiently and safely.
  • Troubleshooting: Apply troubleshooting techniques to identify and resolve problems.
  • Document Control: Manage document control to keep all logs and records up to date.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Relevant Qualifications: Relevant qualifications (e.g., Degree in Mechanical Engineering). Trade qualifications are an advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role within the mechanical and electrical contracting sector.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Mechanical Systems Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems in data center environments.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with contractors on-site.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
