The Medical Research Council is seeking a skilled Scientific Research Manager to oversee the National Mouse Archive at its MRC Mary Lyon Centre. As part of this role, you will lead the technical development program and provide strategic leadership for the assisted reproductive service.

Key responsibilities include maintaining the integrity of biological resources, managing import/export teams, and ensuring compliance with ISO9001 standards. You will also be responsible for designing and delivering training courses on best practices for exchanging biological resources.

This position requires a strong scientific background, including experience in high-throughput project management and molecular biology techniques. A PhD in Biological Sciences or equivalent is essential, along with excellent attention to detail and ability to work autonomously.

In addition to your scientific expertise, you should possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to advise researchers on licensing agreements and contracts. Previous experience in line management and working under ASPA regulations is desirable.

The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in animal welfare, computer literacy, and knowledge of complex genetic alterations. They must also be able to maintain good working relationships with external researchers and teams within the MLC.

We offer a competitive salary of £51,000 per annum, commensurate with skills and experience, and are committed to providing a positive work environment that promotes professional growth and development.
