Job Summary:

We are seeking an exceptional Mental Health Specialist Doctor to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Godden Green. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality treatment under the direction of a Consultant Psychiatrist.

Salary:

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary up to £90,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Job Description:

As a Mental Health Specialist Doctor, you will be required to:

  • Assess referrals and undertake mental state examinations of service users
  • Provide high-quality treatment under the direction of a Consultant Psychiatrist
  • Participate in weekly ward rounds and attend multidisciplinary meetings
  • Attend Care Programme Approach and Section 117 meetings and mental health review tribunals
  • Ensure that medical decisions are implemented as planned
  • Audit medical services and ensure compliance with GMC and other professional guidelines
  • Uphold policies and procedures and contribute to service governance and development
  • Participate in the 1 in 5 on-call doctors' rota

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Fully GMC registered and MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
  • Experience within a mental health setting
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledgeable of mental health legislation and codes of practice
  • An excellent clinical decision maker, with sound judgment and ability to manage risk
  • A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess, and treat patients and write clear, comprehensive medical notes
  • Committed to continued professional development
  • Preferably approved under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act and a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, or equivalent
