Brighton Youth Centre is seeking a qualified and experienced Youth Work leader to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for creating and delivering our Youth Work Programme, supporting and managing our team of youth workers and volunteers, and contributing to the overall success of our organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver our Youth Work Programme, ensuring it meets the needs of our young people and aligns with our organisational goals.
  • Collaborate with staff and young people to develop and agree on delivery plans and budgets.
  • Record and evaluate all programme delivery, using our established procedures to ensure quality and effectiveness.
  • Recruit, supervise, and support volunteers and staff, leading team meetings as necessary to ensure smooth programme delivery.
  • Identify grants and funding needs with our Head of Fundraising and CEO, completing applications as required to secure vital resources.
  • Deliver timely reports for our CEO and funders, providing clear and concise information on programme progress and outcomes.
  • Conduct proper risk assessments for all activities, adhering to our policies on safeguarding and equality.
  • Manage budgets and expenditures for specific programme areas, ensuring effective use of resources.
  • Record staff hours in coordination with our Operations Manager, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Participate in training, supervision, staff meetings, and external meetings, undertaking other duties commensurate with the role's responsibilities.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
  • Level 3 JNC qualified or relevant youth work qualification, with 3-4 years of experience in youth work settings.
  • Experience working with young people (aged 13-19) in youth work settings, with a proven track record of delivering effective programmes.
  • Experience in developing Youth Work Programmes, with a focus on creating engaging and inclusive activities.
  • Experience in managing staff teams, with a proven ability to lead and motivate others.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, volunteers, partner organisations, and young people.
  • Good organisational, planning, writing, budgeting, and administration skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality programmes.
  • Understanding and experience of monitoring and evaluation in a youth work setting, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Politically and creatively aware, with a good understanding of Youth Work principles and a commitment to social justice.
  • Ability to challenge, support, and reflect appropriately and effectively, with a focus on promoting positive relationships and outcomes.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and enjoy multitasking in a busy environment, with a focus on delivering high-quality programmes and services.
