Sister/Charge Nurse/Clinical Leader - Theatres Recovery

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our dynamic recovery units as a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse/Clinical Leader. This is an exciting opportunity to build experience and skills as a leader in Recovery, with a focus on providing excellent care to patients and their families within the recovery environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical leadership, managing staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. They will work effectively under pressure, have excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, and be able to deputise for the Senior Sister and act as a Clinical Specialist and expert role model within Perioperative Care Services.

Main Duties of the Job
  1. To act as a Clinical Specialist and expert role model within Perioperative Care Services, promoting excellent team working and ensuring safe, effective, research-based patient care.
  2. To deputise for the Band 7 team in their absence, managing staff, bed management, and staff management, sickness management, roster management, etc.
  3. To be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care without supervision.
  4. To assist in the setting and implementation of objectives and appraisal of trained staff and learners, and to provide a caring working environment in which staff can maximise their potential and develop skills in clinical practice, teaching, and management.
  5. To be a facilitator for change and assist in establishing new policies and protocols.
  6. To be able to support other recovery areas.

Person Specification
  • Registered Adult Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner
  • Active and current UK NMC/HCPC Registration
  • Evidence of ongoing/continued professional development
  • Course relevant to Recovery
Experience
  • Significant critical care/recovery experience at band 5
  • Evidence of ongoing commitment to the development of the recovery unit
  • Clinical expert in recovery care and willingness to support all recovery units
  • Evidence of leadership skills and study/qualification
  • Experience of clinical teaching in a critical care environment
Knowledge
  • Capable of working as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team
  • Appreciation of current issues in nursing & involvement in specific interests
  • Professional development in Recovery/Critical Care/Acute Care
Skills
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership qualities
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisation skills
  • Willing and able to develop nursing practice
  • Adaptable to changing situations due to both workload and colleague needs
  • Enthusiasm for clinical teaching
  • Good communication skills between the multi-disciplinary team/wider perioperative services both written and verbal
  • Ability to prioritise workload
