About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Maternity Quality and Safety Midwife to join our team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a clinically experienced midwife to take on a key role in ensuring the highest standards of care in our maternity services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain communication channels to engage all staff in the maternity service and ensure regular updates are provided.
  • Provide professional and operational support to the Midwifery clinical and management team in relation to Claims, Complaints, Clinical Risk and Governance initiatives and issues.
  • Assist with the day-to-day maternity risk management process and strategy, including the accurate reporting and validation of incidents onto the Datix electronic system.
  • Coordinate, lead, or delegate investigations and provide leadership and support for staff when serious incidents occur within maternity services.
  • Contribute to the notification and investigation of incidents using the PMRT role.
Requirements
  • Registered Midwife with up-to-date and evidence-based knowledge of current clinical and professional issues.
  • First-level degree in a related healthcare discipline or substantial experiential equivalence.
  • 5 years post-registration experience.
  • Teaching and assessing qualification/experience.
  • Evidence of MDT working.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Post-graduate qualification and/or equivalent level of knowledge gained through extensive experience.
  • Change management experience/skills.
  • Service development experience, delivering clinical quality improvements and successful service change.
  • Experience as a Labour ward Co-ordinator Band 7.
  • Experience in all care settings.
