Mechanical Process Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Process Design Engineer to join our Water Division in Syracuse, NY. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing process mechanical systems for wastewater treatment projects.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop process mechanical systems for wastewater treatment projects, including piping and instrumentation diagrams, process flow diagrams, and equipment layouts.
- Collaborate with project managers and other consultants to deliver integrated and sustainable solutions for clients.
- Develop and modify technical specifications for project requirements and develop equipment data sheets.
- Work with hydraulic modeling software (PIPE-FLO, DESIGNET, or similar) to analyze and optimize wastewater treatment systems.
- Participate in the quality review process of work products developed by others and take ownership of providing quality work to the lead engineer or project manager.
- Train and mentor early career employees and serve as a subject matter expert to other engineers on areas of expertise.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 15+ years of qualifying engineering experience in the Wastewater Treatment engineering design field, or an Associate's Degree or technical school certification in civil or mechanical technology, technical drafting, or other relevant technical curriculum and 20+ years of qualifying engineering experience.
- Currently active Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D and/or Revit MEP.
- Ability to develop Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams, mass/flow/energy balances, equipment and piping layouts, and develop plans, elevations, details, sections, etc.
- Experience with commissioning, and long-term operation requirements of groundwater and industrial wastewater treatment plants.
