The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Senior Occupational Therapist to join its team. This role presents an exceptional chance to contribute to delivering top-notch rehabilitation services in a vibrant and innovative environment.

About the Position
  • As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will be a key member of our multidisciplinary team, working closely with healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to adults and seniors.
  • Your primary responsibilities will include conducting thorough patient assessments, designing tailored treatment plans, and implementing evidence-based interventions to optimize recovery and independence.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Critical Care team to facilitate early rehabilitation of patients with trauma, surgical, medical, and neurological conditions.
  • Support patients with oncology/renal conditions, palliative care, and complex manual handling assessments, while ensuring seamless communication with other healthcare professionals.
  • Work with frail elderly patients, addressing their specific needs, including dementia, falls management, and complex discharge planning.
  • Engage in rapid decision-making processes to prevent unnecessary admissions and ensure efficient care delivery through emergency portals.
  • Develop expertise in treating a wide range of medical conditions, including Non-Invasive Ventilation, MND, Cardiology, and post-Critical Care Step-down, with a focus on complex discharge planning and specialized knowledge in seating and wheelchairs.
  • Contribute to elective orthopaedics at County Hospital, supporting complex discharges and fostering effective collaboration among healthcare professionals.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant CPD training in specialty areas.
  • A minimum of 18 months post-graduate experience as an Occupational Therapist.
  • NHS experience, particularly in acute settings.
