Surgical Nurse Leadership Position

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Staff Nurse to join our team in the Surgical Trauma Assessment Unit (STAU) and Same Day Emergency Care unit (SDEC). The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of surgical/emergency nursing and be able to work as Band 6 in an inpatient and ambulatory setting.
Main Responsibilities
- To act as a leader and role model, adopting a flexible approach in managing clinical and managerial responsibilities.
- To work and be Nurse In Charge of either STAU or Surgical SDEC, coordinating the care of patients, accepting referrals and managing the nursing team.
- To actively engage in research and development opportunities for the service.
- To have knowledge regarding governance and its importance in promoting and maintaining a safe and quality-driven environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- To take immediate action and inform the sister where performance, conduct, or attendance falls short of the expected standards.
- To assist with and participate in the recruitment, retention, and professional development of staff.
Requirements
- A current NMC Registration.
- Appropriate post-registration experience in surgical nursing for at least 3 years.
- Experience of undertaking research or audit projects.
- Evidence of commitment to research-based practice or evidence of project work undertaken.
- The ability to work alone or as part of a team.
- Innovative and participates with practice and policy change.
- Commitment to the development and provision of high-quality nursing care.
- Awareness of current national changes in nursing/NHS.
- General good health, able to work on feet for long periods.
