Position Overview
This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated and proactive individual to become part of our Food Standards Division. We are seeking a Trainee Regulatory Compliance Officer to join our team, which operates under a flexible working model that includes office-based, on-site, and remote work. The successful candidate must be prepared to address urgent complaints that may require immediate inspections and may occasionally involve working outside standard hours.
Role Responsibilities
Our Food Standards Division is focused on supporting local businesses while effectively addressing illegal trading practices through a comprehensive array of regulatory measures. As a member of our dynamic team, you will assist experienced officers with sampling, animal feed assessments, and food standards inspections throughout the region. Additionally, you may engage in various Food Services initiatives as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate will possess a formal qualification in food standards inspections, whether through a Trading Standards or Environmental Health background, or relevant experience in a regulatory enforcement role. Candidates should be prepared to undertake necessary qualifications within a two-year timeframe to develop the expertise required for this position.
Successful applicants will demonstrate strong organizational skills, effective time management, and the flexibility to accommodate occasional unsocial hours. It is essential to engage compassionately with the public and businesses while maintaining confidence in managing challenging situations.
Additional Requirements
A valid driving license and access to a personal vehicle for business purposes are required to facilitate inspections across the designated area.
A positive attitude, adaptability, and strong organizational, IT, and communication skills (both verbal and written) are crucial for success in this role. Professionalism and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively towards common objectives are vital attributes.
