Job Summary
The East Riding of Yorkshire Council is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic officer to join our Food Standards Team as a Trainee Food Standards Officer. This is a unique opportunity to work in a regulatory enforcement role, supporting businesses in the East Riding while robustly tackling illegal trading activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support other Food Standards officers on sampling, animal feeds, and food standards inspections across the East Riding.
- Focus on providing support to businesses, while using the full range of tools and techniques available to tackle illegal trading activities.
- Work as part of a busy team, responding to reactive complaints and conducting physical inspections of premises in a short timeframe.
- Be involved in other areas of Food Services activity as required.
Requirements
- Hold a clean driving licence and have your own vehicle available for business use.
- Have good time management skills, flexibility to work occasional unsocial hours, and the ability to deal sympathetically with members of the public and businesses.
- Be able to handle difficult and challenging situations with confidence.
- Hold a relevant formal qualification for undertaking food standards inspections, or have relevant recent experience in a regulatory enforcement/inspection role.
