About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Highway Design Engineer to join our team in Chelmsford or Cambridge. As a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality highway engineering projects, working closely with clients and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare designs and specifications in accordance with Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB)
  • Develop designs using AutoCAD, Civil3D models, and other relevant software
  • Deliver work packages, including managing schemes and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Provide technical input to project pricing, proposals, and deliverables
  • Accountable for checking, certifying, and authorizing designs, documents, approvals, and reports
  • Manage graduate engineers and technicians to deliver work packages
  • Work collaboratively with clients and stakeholders to deliver schemes/projects
  • Mentor and upskill junior staff to develop professionally and progress towards professional qualifications
  • Prepare feasibility studies, technical reports, detailed designs, and production of contract documents
  • Provide technical support and leadership as required

Requirements

  • BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and preferably Incorporated or Chartered Engineer
  • Demonstrable experience in highway design, working in accordance with DMRB and other standards/best practice guidance
  • Understanding of commercial aspects of project delivery
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, standards, and procedures
  • NEC and/or Project Management experience is advantageous
