Job Title: Clinical Team Manager - Learning Disabilities and Autism

Job Summary:

The Clinical Team Manager will be a key member of the specialist community Early Intervention in Psychosis leadership team, responsible for the caseload management of the team and delivery of NICE-guided clinical interventions. They will be a Clinical Team Manager and line manage a defined staffing group, ensuring compliance to statutory training, annual appraisal, and staff supervision. They will liaise with other local agencies, including Tier IV inpatient and specialist services, the Mental Health Liaison Team, and the home treatment team.

Main Duties:

  1. To demonstrate clear leadership and support team members and clinicians in providing clinical management and support to develop the care and treatment of people with mental health problems in the community, maximizing engagement and improving outcomes.
  2. Undertake professional supervision and caseload management for an agreed number of registered professionals within the integrated hub site.
  3. As the senior clinician in the team, working alongside Clinical leads, ensuring the skill set and expertise of individual clinicians are appropriate to the needs of the case load they manage, including supervision and appraisals as appropriate, ensuring it is in line with Trust/Directorate standards.
  4. Demonstrate decision-making and problem-solving skills as a senior member of the team.
  5. To support the team in developing and building effective communication between community services, wider mental health services, and with other agencies and services.
  6. To take appropriate lead action with regard to complaints and reportable incidents within the service as directed by the Trust's complaints and reportable incident policies.
  7. To contribute to and lead on the implementation of local and national objectives.
Person Specification:

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

Essential:
  • Essential Professional qualification - RMN/Occupational Therapist/Social Worker/RNLD
  • Relevant post-graduate study or be able to demonstrate further skills-based training.
  • Extensive post-registration experience in mental health care.
  • Advanced knowledge of treatment techniques and good knowledge of recognized disorders and illness in the field of mental health.
  • Understanding of a range of communication styles when working with young people, young adults, and families in distress.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act.
  • Able to demonstrate leadership.
  • Previous experience of supervising staff.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the practices of equality and inclusion in the delivery of this role.
Desirable:
  • Post-registration training in a treatment modality to diploma/degree standard such as CBT.
  • Previous experience in mental health or experience of working with adolescents/young adults within an EI Setting.
  • Developing policies and protocols.
  • Providing care in community settings.
  • Experience of research.
  • Experience of leading or managing a team.
