Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Recovery Counsellor to join our team at The Forward Trust, a social enterprise that empowers individuals to break cycles of crime and addiction. As a Recovery Counsellor, you will work closely with clients to deliver holistic health and wellbeing interventions in HMP Wormwood Scrubs and HMP Brixton.

About the Role

This is a part-time role based across both HMP Brixton and HMP Wormwood Scrubs. You will be required to travel between sites, working collaboratively with a team of Recovery Workers to enhance effective engagement of clients in structured treatment programmes and other interventions. As a key member of our team, you will take a proactive approach to building partnerships with mental health, wider healthcare services, and the prison.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver psychosocial assessments and treatments for clients referred into the Footsteps and/or Bridge programmes.
  • Formulate and implement cohesive counselling treatment and management plans for clients' mental health and wellbeing needs.
  • Evaluate treatment options taking into account theoretical and therapeutic models, and complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes.
  • Provide counselling advice and consultation to clients when required.
  • Communicate information concerning the formulation and treatment plans of clients under their care, monitoring progress while maintaining professional requirements on ethics and confidentiality.
