Senior Health Care Support Worker

Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Health Care Support Worker to join our team at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Senior Health Care Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our patients, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide a range of personal care for patients, including assistance with hygiene, toileting, and the use of continence aids.
- Support patients with moving and handling, use of mobility aids, and correct patient positioning.
- Assist patients with dietary needs and provide information on healthy eating.
- Undertake venepuncture and cannulation, as well as other clinical procedures, under the guidance of a registered healthcare professional.
- Participate in the clinical care provided to patients, prioritizing workload appropriately and developing competencies that safeguard practice and effectiveness in role.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to work as part of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive and respectful work environment.
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification.

As a Senior Health Care Support Worker, you will be responsible for ensuring effective use of all financial resources, exercising personal duty of care in the safe use and storage of equipment, and being environmentally aware and prudent in the use of resources and energy. You will also be responsible for adhering to Trust policies and procedures, ensuring a neat and professional appearance, and demonstrating own duties to new or less experienced staff.
