Job Title: Transport Operations Manager

Stobart is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transport Operations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of our transport operation, ensuring that all daily targets are met in a cost-effective, efficient, and safe manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Proactively contribute to the long-term resource planning of the site, including asset and recruitment management.
  • Work collaboratively with our Myworkforce team to ensure compliance with all MWF tasks, including resource planning and cost-effective utilization of drivers and equipment.
  • Lead the way in terms of best practice regarding safety, ensuring that your team understands the importance of being safe in the workplace at all times.
  • Proactively seek to understand financial performance and take ownership of addressing inefficiencies that impact the depot's P&L.
  • Actively promote and ensure compliance with transport policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Develop the Transport team in increasing engagement, communication, and people development.
  • Manage and develop a team of Drivers, Shift Managers, and Front Desk personnel to deliver a high-quality service to customers.
  • Responsible for ensuring adherence and compliance with Health & Safety, Employment legislation, and Company policy.
  • Lead and partner with Health & Safety representatives on local and site initiatives, including H&S induction and training.
  • Responsible for vehicle management, including liaison with CAM.
  • Responsible for creating, reporting, and analyzing departmental management information to improve business performance.
  • Ensure that all vehicles are compliant with legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
  • Ensure that all transport staff deliver the service appropriate to the changing needs of customers, in line with relevant guidance and individual risk assessments.
  • Build constructive working relationships with supplementary business departments.
  • Foster a positive working relationship with external suppliers to maximize business benefit.
Requirements:
  • CPC National Qualification.
  • Experience in a Transport Management role is essential.
  • Ability to manage, motivate, and lead a large team.
  • Experience in managing large fleets of HGVs.
  • Demonstrable experience of successful resource management and cost control.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Proven track record of working to clearly defined service delivery KPIs.
  • Excellent understanding of Health and Safety processes.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to maintain the very highest levels of attention to detail even when under pressure.
  • IT literate, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
