Job Title: Housing Component Manufacturing Team Leader

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Housing Component Manufacturing Team Leader to join our team at Personnel Selection. As a key member of our engineering workshop, you will be responsible for leading a team of manufacturing professionals to ensure the production of high-quality housing components.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the final product meets quality standards and customer specifications
  • Raise NCNs of rejected products
  • Prepare materials for subcontract operations and ensure all material issuing operations are completed
  • Carry out works order operations as detailed
  • Component and sub-assembly fabrication to meet set deadlines
  • Notify Housing Projects team of any issues that may prevent set deadlines being met
  • Complete works orders and location
  • Stock location and re-location of all fabrication components
  • Manage scrap metal for Housing Department
  • Regular stock checking and stock query resolution
  • Involvement in equipment maintenance
  • Support related teams in problem-solving activities
  • Area shutdown at the end of the shift
  • Complete all documentation required by the Company administrative system
  • Involvement in Total Preventative Maintenance
  • Adherence to ISO standards
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety standards are maintained
  • Completion of mandatory company Learn courses
  • Adherence to health and safety requirements
Team Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Lead by setting a good example and behaviour consistent with our Behaviours and Values
  • Act as an interface between the team and others in the business
  • Clear delivery of key messages to the team
  • Regularly report to own team and upwards to their line manager
  • Reputation management
  • Manage recruitment with the assistance of HR
  • Ensure a successful induction process for new starters
  • Clearly communicate required tasks and agree deadlines
  • Set and agree SMART objectives for individuals/team and monitor performance
  • Manage and conduct appraisal process with all permanent team members
  • Provide regular constructive feedback to individuals and the team
  • Address performance issues quickly, candidly and constructively
  • Manage capability and conduct issues with the assistance of HR
  • Identify training and development opportunities for the team
  • Absence management with company policy
  • Promote and drive continuous improvement within the teams
  • Responsible for HSE compliance and improvement activities for the Team

To be successful as our Housing Component Manufacturing Team Leader, you must have experience working within an engineering workshop and ideally working with metalwork. You should be able to demonstrate supervisory or people management skills, including performance management, and have strong time management skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as commercial acumen and the ability to influence others while mentoring and coaching team members.

Experience of an engineering workshop and drawings, machine shop and/or press cell and/or sheet metal, demonstrable supervisory or people management experience, and experience of employee performance management are all advantageous. Stock management experience, management of Total Preventative Maintenance, experience of working to ISO standards, and a Forklift truck licence (preferably Reach) are also desirable.
