Job Title: Functional Skills Tutor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Functional Skills Tutor to join our team in a male open prison. As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality Maths and English courses to adult learners, with the goal of enhancing their future employment prospects and reducing the likelihood of reoffending.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Maths and English courses to adult learners in a prison setting
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans to meet the needs of learners
  • Assess and provide feedback to learners on their progress
  • Collaborate with the education department to ensure seamless delivery of courses
  • Provide support and guidance to learners to help them achieve their goals

Requirements:

  • Good basic general education including GCSE (or) equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C or above
  • A Degree, or professional qualification, which is appropriate to the work
  • Teaching Qualification
  • Ability to work in a prison environment and build relationships with learners
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
