About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant Psychiatrist in Old Age Psychiatry, you will be responsible for providing senior medical input to our inpatient team at Cherry Ward, based at Highbury Hospital.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide medical leadership for the multi-disciplinary team on Cherry ward
  • Conduct medical/psychiatric assessments to inform care planning and risk assessment
  • Complete administrative tasks related to clinical responsibilities
  • Maintain good clinical records using Trust's electronic record system
  • Participate in clinical audit and contribute to teaching meetings
  • Undertake a job plan review with the Clinical Directors annually
  • Maintain professional registration with the GMC and approval as an Approved Clinician and Section 12(2) approved doctor
  • Attend team and governance meetings
  • Comply with Trust's agreed policies and procedures
  • Participate in the MHSOP out of hours on call rota
  • Clinical supervision of junior medical staff

We provide services in an in-patient and community basis, comprising of the following teams:

  • Intensive Home Treatment Team (IHTT)
  • Rapid Response Liaison Psychiatry (RRLP)
  • Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT)
  • Memory Assessment Services (MAS)
  • Young Onset Dementia Service (YOD)
  • Dementia Outreach Services (Residential and Nursing Homes) (DOS)
  • Psychological Therapies

Requirements

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
  • Approved clinician status and S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
