Behaviour Support Mentor Role Overview

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Behaviour Support Mentor to join a dynamic secondary school in Gateshead/Newcastle. As a Behaviour Support Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social emotional behaviour difficulties, helping them overcome barriers to learning.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to manage and support pupils with challenging behaviour.
  • Establish a 1:1 mentoring relationship with identified students, drawing up agreed action plans to outline the aims of the mentoring.
  • Collaborate with teachers, Heads of House, and support staff to promote effective behaviour management strategies.
  • Work with parents to support the work of the school in improving individual children's behaviour and ensuring effective communication between school and home.
  • Support individuals or groups to raise self-esteem and confidence, improving personal and social skills.
  • Monitor progress in improving behaviour and maintain improvements once made.
