About the Role

We are seeking an Electronics Engineer to join our team on an industrial placement. As an Electronics Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting operations for atmospheric science radars and space situational awareness tracking systems. You will also support technical development of radars and provide technical support for other projects operating at the Observatory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct operations for atmospheric science radars and space situational awareness tracking systems
  • Support technical development of radars
  • Provide technical support for other projects operating at the Observatory
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled on an electronics engineering undergraduate degree course and returning to university/studies to complete your undergraduate degree following the placement
  • Are required or have requested to take an industrial placement year
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement
  • Able to commence employment in summer 2025
  • Interest in radio frequency engineering and/or communications engineering
  • Have own transport to reach Chilbolton Observatory
  • Good general knowledge of basic electronics, including both analogue and digital design
  • Knowledge of the C programming language
  • Good communication skills
  • Practical electronic assembly skills
  • Experience with electronic test equipment
