About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Graduate Digital Engineer to join our team at the Chilbolton Observatory. As a Graduate Digital Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting and managing operations for atmospheric science radars and space situational awareness tracking systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct and manage operations for atmospheric science radars and space situational awareness tracking systems
  • Support technical development of radars
  • Provide technical support for other projects operating at the Observatory
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Achieved, or be on course to achieve, a minimum 2:1 degree in a relevant field of study
  • The right to live and work in the UK at the time of starting employment
  • Own transport to reach Chilbolton Observatory
  • Good general knowledge of basic electronics, including both analogue and digital design
  • Knowledge of the C programming language
  • Good communication skills
  • Practical electronic assembly skills
  • Experience with electronic test equipment
Desirable Skills

While not essential, the following skills would be beneficial:

  • RF design - radio links
  • Programmable digital logic design - FPGA
  • Experience with microcontrollers - PIC AVR etc
