Academic Role in Construction Management

We are seeking an experienced academic professional to join our team at GBS Global Applied Knowledge as a Lecturer in Construction Management. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and inspiring students in the principles and practices of construction project management.

The role involves developing comprehensive course materials, overseeing student projects, and staying up-to-date with industry trends and advancements. Our team has achieved outstanding results in the National Student Survey, scoring above the sector average in all themes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in construction management, project management, or a related field, with a Master's degree or higher. Previous lecturing experience and a teaching qualification are also essential.

The successful candidate will be able to work under pressure, plan and prioritize their workload to meet tight deadlines, and maintain thorough and organized student records.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and assessing student work, ensuring all learning outcomes are met
  • Developing, updating, and improving course materials
  • Using a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials, including live online learning
  • Attending meetings to contribute to decision-making and develop working relationships
  • Participating in staff development activities and peer observations
  • Understanding and keeping up-to-date with student support
  • Participating in the GBS performance management program
  • Undertaking administrative duties as agreed with the line manager

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in construction management, project management, or a related field
  • Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Previous lecturing experience for similar courses
  • Experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback
  • Experience teaching in the wider subject area
  • Experience with distance learning and supporting learners online and face-to-face
  • Professional conduct in all interactions with staff and students
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant subject matter
  • Firm commitment to personal and professional development
  • Attention to detail and accurate reporting
  • Ability to maintain thorough and organized student records
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
  • Highly motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-working skills
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people
