Academic Lecturer in Construction Management

We are seeking an experienced Lecturer in HND Construction Management to join our academic team at GBS Global Applied Knowledge. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across a range of modules related to construction management.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Plan, deliver, and assess student work, ensuring all learning outcomes are met.
  2. Develop, update, and improve course materials as needed.
  3. Use a variety of learning and teaching methods, including live online learning.
  4. Attend meetings to contribute to decision-making and develop working relationships.
  5. Participate in staff development activities and peer observations.
  6. Understand and keep up to date with student support to ensure students receive full guidance.
  7. Meet performance management objectives for student outcomes, satisfaction, retention, and attendance.
  8. Undertake administrative duties agreed upon with your line manager.
  9. Take on other responsibilities to support GBS Global Applied Knowledge.
Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • An honours degree in construction management, project management, or equivalent. Hold a Master's degree in a relevant subject area and a PhD, or demonstrate equivalent professional experience.
  • Previous lecturing experience for similar courses.
  • Experience supervising student work and providing feedback.
  • Teaching experience in the subject area.
  • Experience with distance learning and supporting learners online and face-to-face.
  • Professional conduct in interactions with staff and students.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant subject matter.
  • Commitment to personal and professional development.
  • Attention to detail and accurate reporting.
  • Organising student records.
  • Ability to work under pressure, plan, and prioritise workload.
  • Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-working skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of teaching construction management with a focus on BIM and digital technologies. Relevant professional experience is also beneficial.
  • Postgraduate teaching qualification, such as Higher Education teaching.
  • Experience in facilitating computer-aided design workshops.
  • Experience in designing and developing academic or professional education programmes.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or an equivalent body.
