Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced midwife to join our team as a Matron for Maternity Services. The successful candidate will possess strong clinical leadership skills and be able to inspire and motivate teams.

The Matron will lead and facilitate the development of efficient, effective and patient-focused services for women and children receiving care within the division. Through strong clinical leadership, the Matron will support the teams to promote excellence in nursing and midwifery care to maintain and improve clinical standards.

The post holder will ensure that all patients are treated with compassion, dignity and respect, placing value on the diversity of the local community and beyond. Partnership working is a priority in supporting the delivery of a seamless and integrated service.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate the development of efficient, effective and patient-focused services for women and children receiving care within the division.
  • Support the teams to promote excellence in nursing and midwifery care to maintain and improve clinical standards.
  • Ensure that all patients are treated with compassion, dignity and respect, placing value on the diversity of the local community and beyond.
  • Participate and assume responsibility within the Senior Manager On Call Rota.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King's Lynn is a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based healthcare services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire.

We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers, approximately 530 beds, and a helipad for air ambulances. We work with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services, including as part of regional partnership and network models of care, such as the trauma network.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Nurse/Midwife on NMC register
  • Educated to Master's Degree Level or equivalent level of experience and working towards formal qualification
  • Evidence of recent relevant professional development
  • Teaching and Assessing qualification

  • Good understanding of and ability to interpret and analyse performance data to inform future delivery and recovery when required.
